Internet Radio Station Branding & Website Design Case Study
About
Parlor City Rock Radio is an Internet radio station that plays rock music from the 60's to today and local Indie Rock music created by local rock bands in the Binghamton, NY area and around the world. The owner and DJ Greg enjoyed creating rock mix tapes when he was young, and always dreamed of being a DJ. After many years, his dream finally came true!
Greg wanted to create a sense of excitement around his brand to rally the local community and local bands to bring something truly unique to the Binghamton area. The logo was to be custom designed with a rock music symbol, be artistic, memorable, and "scream" rock music.
The website would initially be promoted to local Binghamton area bands to start accepting music submissions, so the homepage needed to attracting local bands. It should also have an embedded player with controls to listen.
Greg is part of the blind community, so he would also be marketing to blind communities on social media. This made it imperative that both the website and the administration panel were ADA compliant to create a usable experience for all rock music fans.
The website design and code should and not only meet the WCAG 2.2 guidelines, but to go the extra mile to ensure that all images and navigation are appropriately described to users using a screen reader. This would ensure the website created an enjoyable experience for everyone.

The brand and website Liz built for me is absolutely incredible! Right off the bat, I started getting leads from local Bands to submit their music, and listeners for my station. The website is very accessible, which was one of my main concerns. I was especially impressed with how she listened to my concerns and tailored the whole design process to me and my needs. She is very accommodating, and the process went smoother than I expected. Thank you Liz!
